Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard courts

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has had a difficult season, achieving just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a setback at the US Open.

The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in specific - resulted in him dropping out of the top ten and finally separating with long-time trainer his previous coach.

Presently working with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's initial championship after the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface after spring of that year.

The win also means the Russian has achieved 21 titles at 21 different tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my children together, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my child her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six title deciders, comprising in that event previously this season.

The player's retrieving approach and recurring reactions on court had prompted observers to doubt if his capacity to perform at the highest level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and compete assertively, backed up by an enhanced service.

He came back from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky opponent, securing 4 of the final five points to gain the advantage.

The pair swapped service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his first ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

Moutet saved 4 early break points in a tight final set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, he secured the title with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
