'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith renews contest with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he reminisces about the dramatic final moments of Swansea's stunning fightback win against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. That match culminated with Galbraith briefly donning a spectator's eyewear following the on-field celebration.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a powerful strike from distance, and the defender immediately slammed home the deflection before racing off toward the crowd to celebrate, with fans congregating around the players.

Stunning Reversal

The result sealed an extraordinary comeback given Swansea had been behind 2-0 deep into the latter period. During the celebrations, there was some minor mishaps. The midfielder recalled, "There was a fan sort of calling out and Josh Key and I were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're people, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

The victory earned a next round match at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, a team Galbraith pushed hard at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with his former club in February. The athletic midfielder had a prime vantage point when his former team took the lead in spectacular fashion, with the attacker's volley from about way out going in via the crossbar and the Stefan Ortega. Many argued that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've credited him for having a go from that distance," stated Galbraith, who began the game centrally before moving to right flank after Orient changed shape. That meant facing off against the England international, with whom he swapped shirts, and the attacker was among the opposition who praised the way the underdogs approached the match.

City's Quality

"Fitness-wise they are very good but even the simple things and simple things, they can just do it over and over again," the midfielder notes. "It appears that they complete every delivery and they know how to dictate and take the sting out of a game. You can feel you're holding your own and then suddenly they will just deliver a through ball between defenders without you even noticing. You have to be switched on throughout of the game. It requires a strong mentality and attention just to stay in the game."

Welsh Transition

Swansea sought to acquire Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to sign him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He became a favorite as a fans' favourite across two seasons at his former club and has quickly replicated that in south Wales. At Orient he joined forces once more with his former manager, who earlier gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in professional games on loan at Doncaster from Old Trafford. Then came a loan at League Two the Manchester club, before he permanently left Manchester United.

Growth Journey

"I was perhaps a somewhat inexperienced going into senior level. I think many athletes would say under-23s football is entirely separate. Sometimes it appears play is circulated without real physicality. There's not many physical contests. Once you start playing men's games you have to adjust fast."

International Recognition

He has shown that growth for his team and nation, excelling for his national side, who could still reach the World Cup next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has been selected in the last several matches, including two matches encounters against Germany. His former international manager, Galbraith's ex- international manager, gave him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he manipulates the ball and his eye for a game-changing assist.

Early Days

It has been quite the ride for the player from the local area in his hometown, just outside the capital, who was raised observing his dad, his father, also a engine room operator, play for a local club.

Old Trafford Memory

His sole appearance for Manchester United came in the away trip in 2019, a Europa League trip to the host city, where they competed on an artificial pitch and the venue ceiling was shut owing to temperatures of freezing cold. "This represented a lengthy journey and it was chilly," he says, smiling. "The preceding week, myself and quite a few of the young lads practiced as a group, so that assisted our preparation. Just to join the main group and get a couple of minutes at the end was unbelievable."

Leaving United

How hard was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged his mid-teens? "This turned out fairly simple, because I reached the point where I knew I wouldn't break through at first-team level. I'm extremely thankful for the years at the club but it reached a stage where I believed I had to take a different path, drop down the leagues and play professional soccer. Now I'm steadily climbing the ladder."

New Environment

This occurs during the early part of the afternoon at the club's training ground but Galbraith has an appointment at 5pm: a learner's exam, another progress toward getting on the road. Until recently to his new neighborhood, the young professional was a frequent passenger in Swansea's dubbed fun bus, a team vehicle driven by academy staff, the transport team, which ferries players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"I travel with Gonçalo Franco, another squad member, an Ivorian player – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's pleasant to spend time with the lads but I'm planning to be the following person to drive independently and on the road. Franco is known for his humor; he's frequently playing tricks."

Public Engagement

During his time at Leyton Orient, Galbraith would mix with fans on the Tube after starting his journey at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
